Effects of High Temperature or chemical Treatments on Changes of Organic Matter and Several Chemical characteristics of Domestic Organic Raw Materials for Pot Plant Production

Abstract
Four domestic organic raw materials were analyzed and evaluated with tour kinds of treatment which included high temperature, NaOH, Ca(OH)©ü, or alkaline H©üO©ü with conventional pot raw media such as peat moss, leaf mold. and mixed media as control. High temperature treatments of domestic organic raw materials showed increase in organic matter (OM) contents. P, K and Mg were distinctively decreased in boiling water soaking rather than steam treatment, while Ca was increased. NaOH treatment to rice straw, rice hull, saw dust caused a decrease in organic content. There was a decrease in P. K and Mg in all treatments, while Ca was increased. which depended on each treatment. Organic content was little changed by Ca(OH), treatment and so was P, K and Mg. However they were dependent on materials and treatment. More than 10 times of Ca increase was shown in this treatment, which is expected to improve culture soil. H©üO©ü treatment showed slight increase in organic content, but overall, little changes were shown. P, K and Mg were significantly decreased and Ca was increased in this treatment.
